The Rowan U. Girls Open

This event, put on by Rowan University and Ringo Adamson with help from Chris Callinan and Matt Martin, is the premier Girls T&F event in New Jersey. With teams from all over the state, competition is sure to be fierce as the relay portion of the outdoor season comes to a close and individual action cranks up look for big performances all over the place this weekend at Rowen U.

I’ll be here this evening to bring you as much info as possible and maybe a few surprises.

The Meet has started

In her 1st ever Steeplechase and with a whole week of practice over barriers, Bernards Zoe Wojtech wins the 2000m Steeplechase with the #18 time in the country and a NBON Q’er of 7:19:17. We’ll have a video interview with Zoe posted later this evening right here on “Along the Fence”

The 100m Hurdle trials are up on the  Track now, followed by the 100m Dash trials.

Updates from the Field;

* Kelly Yanucil of Bordentown wins the Jav with a toss of 135-00 to improve on her state #2 ranking

* Cherokee senior Jess Woodard takes the Shot with a 42-1.75 throw. Jess is #1 in the state in both the Shot Put and the Discus.

We’ll be posting interviews with both athletes later tonite

Back to the track and in the 2nd final on the program, Bridgit Flynn of Ocean City won a very tight race over Erika Kemp (Rancocas Valley) and Camille Franklin (Lenape) in 5:00.03. We’ll have an interview with Bridget posted tonight.

The 110 hurdles winner is Drew Bristol-Andrews of Florence HS with a time of 14.94

The 400m just finished up and with a time of 56.25, Faleesha Dowe of Penns Grove takes the Gold with a NJ leading 56.25. Her time matches her PR which she set at this meet last year.

The 3000m was won by Lauren Zodl of Pinelands HS., running 10:14.45

The 100m Final was taken out to the 1/1000 to determine the winner, who is Jaye Pollard pf  Penns Grove in 12.44 an eyelash better than Pemberton’s Nia Lawrence

Bridget Flynn comes back to take the David K. Long Memorial 800m with a time of 2:17.84.
